Israel Alpizar is one of Image Management's (super) talented designers! There's a common joke around the office that Israel brings our 'cool factor' up a few notches! It's not uncommon to see Israel longboarding down the street during his lunch break or jamming with his band on the weekends. Let's take a peek into Israel's exciting life!
What is your favorite part about working at Image Management?
I would have to say the vast variety of jobs I get weekly is my favorite part. From the tedious spec sheets to editing for a corporate video. But above it all is when I get to create logos/brands. It's where it all starts from some random little idea that extends into brochures, websites, etc. No matter what kind of business or client, it's awesome to create. Oh, and one more thing! Getting to work with a team. I've been working freelance for 9 years and so getting to work with a group full of professionals and interesting personalities brings a variety of happenings.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Well, I like to keep myself busy in the creative arts, from oil paintings to live body competitions. Creating is never ending. I love to write scripts, and I make short films and music videos for bands around the area. But above all, my love for music has me in a couple bands in the area. Donoma being my main squeeze. We just raised $11,000 on our Kickstarter campaign to release our second album! But besides the arts, I love to read, everything from Japanese Pop Surrealism to Theories and Discoveries of Ancient Civilization. When I am not glued to my books, sketch pad or laptops, I am hopping on my board cruising down Lake Michigan or taking road trips around the country. I've been to all 48 continental states!
What has been your favorite project so far at Image Management?
Hmm, that's a tough one. It would have to be creating the logo for NorthRim Supply. The clients were awesome individuals. I love what their business is about and was able to create an awesome logo.
Favorites:
Food: Mexican (it's in my blood)!!! But I also love Indian food... and sushi! Ok, I love exploring different foods from all around the world!
Book: That is a heavy one, but I guess "Catcher in The Rye" changed my life in high school. But, I am also a Tolkien devotee and Haruki Murakami gets my creative juices flowing.
Store: I am not much for shopping but love to hang out for hours at Barnes and Nobles.
Restaurant: Any local mom and pop joint!
What's your favorite inspirational quote?
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - Gandalf (J.R.R Tolkien)
Who is your role model?
My mom. She is pretty much the toughest, most focused and loving human being. We've gone from the slums of Mexico City throughout many home shelters in Illinois and still fought the fight with me and my sister along her side and bought us everything we ever needed. She's taught me to always help those in need and that there is a beauty in this world worth working and waking up daily for.
