Noah Bober is a wonderful asset to our Image Management team. Let's get to know Noah a little better!
What is your favorite part about working at Image Management?
I would have to say I have several favorite aspects of working at Image Management actually. First, I like being able to give the client what they want and express my creativity doing so. It gives me a real sense of accomplishment when I am able to create something that not only the client loves, but to have it be displayed for all to see. Second, I like how much I have learned since I started working here about graphic design and especially the programs used, such as Photoshop and InDesign. There really is no substitute for real world experience when it comes to software or life as a whole.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Oh boy, where to start.
I'm an avid gamer in my free time, be it on Xbox 360, Playstation 3/4 or Nintendo 3DS. What I play largely depends on my mood, so you are as likely to find me playing Pokemon as you are Fallout 4.
I also enjoy drawing and creating artwork. I’ve been drawing as far back as I can remember, and have no plans on stopping as long as I have functional hands. Most of my work since Middle School has been heavily influenced by Anime and Manga, although I will dabble in other styles when the mood strikes me. The humble 0.5 mm Mechanical Pencil is my favored tool, but if I want to color something, I will use Photoshop and my Wacom tablet. I am also a gallery member at the Spectrum Gallery and School of the Arts here in Racine at the DeKoven Center. You can see some of my work there weekends Noon to 5 PM.
Other hobbies include collecting and assembling model kits, specifically those from the various Gundam anime series. Sizes range from about six inches to about 10 for the largest, and I have quite a few of them all told. I find building them to be relaxing, and displaying the results as well as examining all the little details and gimmicks is a joy to me. Plus, I’m a HUGE fan of the Gundam series, as it was one of the first anime series I ever saw, and has helped shape not only my viewing tastes, but also my artistic style to this day.
In a similar vein, I also collect, assemble, paint, and on rare occasions actually play Warhammer 40,000, which is a tabletop war game. Think chess, with more rules, no squares, and dice, lots of dice. These come unassembled and unpainted. Again, I find it almost relaxing to put them together, and then paint them, although some of the smaller ones can get rather tedious after you’ve been gluing the same figure with minor variations in pose thirty times in a row. For me, the construction and painting are almost as fun as actually using them to the play the game they’re for.
When not doing any of those, I am usually spending time with my lovely fiancé, Katie, who shares a great deal of interests with me, such as the aforementioned gaming, drawing, models and so on. So, really, 90% of our time together is spent doing something we both enjoy.
What has been your favorite project so far at Image Management?
As of right now, working on Case IH’s 3D printed snow globe and Christmas card. Both are times I was able to use my more “artistic" skills in this field. Otherwise I would have to say the bus advertisement designs are personal favorites, as I get to see those out in the real word.
Favorites:
Books - I like way too many books to easily pick a favorite. If I had to pick, I’d say the Warhammer 40,000: Night Lords series by Aaron Dembski-Bowden for literature books, and either the BLAME! or Knights of Sidonia series by Tsutomu Nihei for Manga books, although Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind by Hayao Miyazaki is a close second there.
Store - I end up at Barnes and Nobel often, so I’d say that’s probably my favorite store. Can’t have too many books.
Restaurant - Honada Sushi & Hibachi, off Hwy 50 in Kenosha, definitely.
