A few weeks ago, Claire and I went on the 4th Annual KISS Cruise. We set sail on the Norwegian Pearl out of Miami.
Now – I know what you’re thinking. Of all the activities we could be doing, why the KISS Cruise? My response: Why not? It was a great time! The experience was different and new for us.
Don’t get me wrong, I had been a KISS fan since their beginning. I was thirteen years old when I bought my first KISS album. But since then I moved on and somewhat forgot about them – until now.
The most intriguing part about the cruise was the Q&A session. Gene Simmons was asked to expand on how far the band had come in 40 years. Gene explained how he remembered living out of a beat up old station wagon in L.A., their costumes smelling awful in the trunk, earning only $75 a week as a group. He said they would eat pork and beans from a can in the grocery store parking lots.
Yet, KISS endured. Paul, Stanley, and Gene stayed together all these years and now KISS will live on, well beyond their lifetimes. That’s what makes them so special. KISS will live in infamy.
Longevity is the key to their success. Just like any business, marriage or organization you belong to, longevity is the key to making it work.
Claire and I have made it our lifetime goal to stay married and make Image Management our legacy. Sure, we all have days we want to quit, but as KISS endures, I encourage you all to stay together – whether it be your business, marriage or rock'n'roll band :)
Oh, and for the record, I almost forgot to mention, KISS still ROCKS!
My Best – Kevin
