On Thanksgiving Day, while most were eating turkey and watching our Packers get crushed by the Detroit Lions, I went on the longest airplane ride in the world – Atlanta, Georgia, USA to Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. It always was the longest flight until Singapore started flying direct to New York. That flight route was short-lived, however. Now again, the Atlanta to Johannesburg is the longest. The most prestigious of pilots fly this route. Three pilots operate the plane while a fourth rests in a special cab in front of the first class seats.

Last summer I was all set to retire as a triathlete after qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, which includes a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and a 13.1 mile run. The qualifying race was held in Racine and although I did not win my age group, my time was faster than all Southeastern Wisconsin finishers. I placed 35th overall, the top 25 of which were professional triathletes. I was 2nd in my age group. I lost by only 6 seconds to a South African ex-pro who now makes a living out of doing triathlons. My exact finish time was 4 hours, 35 minutes and 49 seconds.

On September 23rd, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that 19 companies had been ordered to stop writing fake online reviews. These companies were being hired to write fraudulant positive reviews on Internet services such as Yelp, Google Local, and CitySearch. These reviews appear to come from individual satisfied consumers. They were designed to convince potential customers that a business’s products or services are better than real reviews would indicate.
